Chapter 39

Fawn

The guys have given me time to heal. My body is recovering, but my mind is still a mess. I try to keep it in check, but at times it wanders.

“We think we can get to your dad if we head to California.” Zander looks at me. I nod my head.

“Where do you think he is?” I ask. Maddox and Zander share a glance as I wait for an answer. I see the look that passes between them. I don’t like it either.

“Spit it the fuck out,” I grunt. Tate chuckles next to me before pulling me into his lap. He leans in and whispers in my ear, “I like it when you’re feisty.” Chills race up my spine.

Tate notices what he did to me. He kisses me behind my ear.

“There’s a place over there. It’s almost like Shadowlands,” Nix finally says. A shudder raced through me, the others noticed it as well. They all look at me like I might break. I won’t let that happen again. They broke me once, twice isn’t an option.

“Why can’t we lure him back to Shadowlands?” I suggest. They all look at me confused. I roll my eyes.

“Bait him. Get him out in the open. What the hell is better than getting them all in one spot?” I ask. Tate nuzzles his face into my neck and lets out a sigh.

“How? What would we use as leverage?” Zander asks. That’s a good question. I lean back into Tate and think. What would he haul ass over here for? What could he want so much, that he would give up his own location to get it? Then it hits me.

“The lawyer,” I say more to myself than anyone else. They all lean forward, listening to me.

“We get the lawyer to say he’s signing it all over to me. What the hell is he without his money?” It’s a solid idea. He can’t live without his money, and he wouldn’t walk away from it either.

“How do we get back into Shadowlands, though? We fucking ran. We took you.” Maddox slams himself back into the seat.

“How long until your dad comes back?” I look over my shoulder at Tate. He shrugs before he says, “A week possibly.” Ideas form in my head. Plans that involve as much death and blood that I can inflict.

“It doesn’t matter. The security footage is there. If he sees that before we can pull it, we’re fucked,” Nix adds. I nod before I stand from Tate’s lap.

“Go in and pull the footage. Scrap it. If he hasn’t been there, he won’t know anything’s missing. He wouldn’t know that anyone left,” I say with a smile on my face. The plan forms in my mind. It’s perfect, I can see it clearly.

“That could work, but there’s one problem,” Tate adds as he stands in front of me. He places his hands on his hips before he says, “You’re no longer being held there.” This is true, but only a minor problem.

“I know.
